Games Console Development: Coursework Updated
The coursework descriptor has been finalised. There is no real change here, just removed the word Draft now that it has been moderated, and fixed a spelling error.
I've fixed the bugs in the application that I mentioned earlier, have cleaned up and commented the code. Both the old version and the improved version are available from the top of the wiki page, along with past papers.
WosGamers Projects: Change of name
This site was originally created to allow students and graduates of University of West of Scotland to collaborate on Open Source projects ... but things have changed!
The features available on this site have proved quite useful for hosting teaching material, or for the students to manage group/team courseworks, and we want to allow closed source projects too. "WosGamers Projects" suits this purpose a bit more as the site is open for all members of the WosGamers community to contribute to both open and closed source projects, as well as a place where lecturers can, if they want, host their teaching material.
The Open Adventure Project: Use the forums
After I had re-structured the project, I asked in this post for anybody that had any questions about the structure to reply in the forums. If there is something you don't like about the structure and there is a better way of doing it (there probably is) then please discuss it before making any changes.
I encourage you to find better ways of doing things, but making changes to the work somebody else has done with no clear reason for doing so isn't a constructive approach to a team project.
The Open Adventure Project: Roadmap
I have created 3 target versions for this project: Initial proof of concept; First 'planned' version; and First Playable.
- Issues have been added to the "Initial proof of concept" version by myself after some discussion with Ross Forshaw.
- The "First 'planned' version" is open for us to discuss and plan what we think as a group should be in this version.
- "First playable" is as it sounds, the first version of the game that has an actual game element to it and not just some floating cubes. Exactly what this means though needs to be discussed
I have created a new forum to discuss this roadmap, and added a discussion for each of these versions. Please visit the forum, add your comments on the requirements for each version, volunteer for unassigned issues, and let's get this project rolling :)
The Open Adventure Project: Current status / build instructions
I've added a wiki page that will be updated frequently with details of the current revision. There are also brief instructions for building the project on each platform using the supported IDEs.
Check the Current status page regularly for updates. This can also be accessed through the Wiki home page.
The Open Adventure Project: Project Approved (3 comments)
Unlike the 'Test' project, this project received approval from the SourceForge team in only a few hours.
I'll be starting to set-up the project repositories in the next couple of days as well as uploading a very basic framework. The framework will be a basic freeglut app to make sure the project compiles and runs ok on both Windows and linux before switching over to SDL.
